Turn Shipment Tracking On or Off

Turn tracking on or off for a shipment from the file's Integrations tab, monitor and retry registrations across shipments in Portal Access, and block or restore tracking defaults for a customer.

9 steps Direct app entry available

Turn tracking on or off for a shipment

  1. Open the shipment's file and go to the Integrations tab.
  2. In Services, find the Tracking Service card. If it says to contact support instead of showing a toggle, tracking isn't set up for this account yet.
  3. Click the toggle to turn tracking On, confirm the Tracking Reference Number (it defaults to the Master Bill of Lading — edit it if a different number should be used), then click Confirm & Enable Tracking.
  4. Click the toggle again to turn tracking Off; confirming clears the tracking number.

If a registration fails, the card shows Unsuccessful with a note that tracking may not be available within 48 hours of booking — click Set New Number to correct the reference and try again.

The Tracking sub-tab next to Services shows this shipment's sync history: date, source, carrier, result, and error detail.

Monitor and retry tracking across shipments

  1. Open Portal Access > Shipment Tracking to see every shipment, filterable by shipment number, customer, reference number, or tracking status (All, Enabled, Disabled, Error).
  2. Use Retry on a shipment showing an error, or Disable to turn off tracking directly from the list.
  3. Use the Refresh TMS Tracking, Refresh Safecube Tracking, or Refresh Trackcargo Tracking buttons to manually pull a shipment's latest tracking events.

Enable only works here once a tracking reference number is already set — if none is set yet, add it from the file's Integrations tab first.

Check the Tracking API and Auto Updates status cards at the top of the page; if either reports Not Configured or Not Ready, ask an administrator to finish the tracking integration setup.

Block or restore tracking for a customer

  1. Open Entities > Companies, find the customer, and click Edit.
  2. Check Tracking excluded to block future tracking registrations for that customer, or uncheck it to allow them again, then save.

This only blocks new registrations — it does not remove tracking from shipments that are already registered.

On Portal Access > Shipment Tracking, shipments for a blocked customer show Customer Off instead of an Enable button.

Changing this on a head office account applies the same setting to all of its branch offices.
